Hello, dear friends and readers of The Breakside. I have some big news regarding the next five or six weeks of content from this platform. Here is the plan:
Today: Today is the launch of an official paid option to subscribe to The Breakside! To answer some questions, I do not plan on paywalling any of the types of content I currently put out. This is a simple $5/month subscription to support what I do, especially considering the cost of my cross-country adventure. Honestly, if all you want to do is help out with the travel-related nationals expenses, then feel free to subscribe for one or two months and then cancel it.
Eventually, I will implement some community-oriented perks, maybe some Q&As, extra input into stories or tournaments I cover, input for interviews, or for various future statistical projects I pursue. For now, though, it is simply a way to provide some support for the work I do. It would mean the world to me if you chose to support me financially in this way as I prepare to travel across the country to cover ultimate! But if you don’t feel compelled to, just keep reading and sharing with others you think might like The Breakside.
9/19: I will be attending Southeast Regionals this weekend to get some practice in and see what kinds of things people enjoy from The Breakside when it comes to live ultimate, so I’ll drop some previews for this weekend in just a couple days! Stay tuned!
9/21-22: Southeast Regionals! I will be in Bermuda Run, NC, all day Saturday and Sunday, experimenting with coverage for you all. Subscribe so you don’t miss it, and check out the new Twitter account, too!
Week of 9/23: In the week following regionals, I’ll do some recaps of the highlights from the weekend, as well as some hopefully interactive polling of you all to see what worked and what didn’t and what you’d like to see more of.
Week of 10/14: In the last week before nationals, we’ll get ready to do it all again! At the risk of overdoing it, I plan on having previews for each division coming out this week for you all to get everyone as excited as possible for nationals.
10/23-28: I will be in California covering nationals! I plan to provide some live updates from games throughout each day, as well as a daily wrap-up at the end of each day or first thing the next morning for you all to wake up to.
In that three week gap between regionals and nationals content, I hope to have a piece or two to tide you over. Right now I’m leaning towards a deep dive into the Colombia vs. USA WUC Women’s final.
This will be the most labor-intensive month of the past two years of The Breakside. I hope to prove to myself and you all that there is a niche for this kind of live coverage of the sport. If you happen to agree with me I’d love it if you were to subscribe, share with a friend, and consider supporting financially if you are able. Thank you again for the incredible support you have shown so far, and I hope everyone is getting excited for the business end of the 2024 USAU Club Season!
